SSC, equivalent results: Pass rate drops to 68.45%, GPA-5 also declines

Also, 139,032 students achieved GPA-5 this year, whereas the number was 182,129 last year.
Professor Khondoker Ehsanul Kabir, chairman of the Dhaka Education Board and president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, announced the results on behalf of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board at the meeting room of the Dhaka Education Board at 2pm today (10 July).
This year's SSC and equivalent exams began on 10 April and concluded on 13 May.
A total of 19,28,970 students registered to take the exams, including 9,67,739 female students and 9,61,231 male students.
Earlier, Education Adviser CR Abrar said the results have been published in less than two months, and without any unnecessary formalities.
This time, there was no official ceremony for the handover of the SSC results. Instead, the nine general education boards, along with the Technical Education Board and the Madrasah Education Board, published the SSC and equivalent results for 2025 independently, in their own manner.
Girls ahead of boys
Result analysis shows that female students have outperformed male students in both pass rate and number of GPA-5 achievers.
Among male students, the pass rate is 65.88%, while among female students, it is 71.03%. A total of 65,416 male students achieved GPA-5, compared to 73,616 female students.
This year, the pass rate in the Madrasah Education Board is 68.09%, and in the Technical Education Board, it is 73.63%.
Among the nine general education boards, the pass rates are as follows:
Dhaka Board: 67.51%
Rajshahi Board: 77.63%
Comilla Board: 63.60%
Jessore Board: 73.69%
Chattogram Board: 72.07%
Barisal Board: 56.38%
Sylhet Board: 68.57%
Dinajpur Board: 67.03%
Mymensingh Board: 58.22%
100% pass rate in 984 educational institutions
A total of 984 educational institutions have secured 100% pass rate in this year's SSC and equivalent examinations, a sharp decline from 2,968 institutions that achieved the same in 2024.
This marks a drop of 1,984 institutions compared to last year, indicating a significant decrease in the number of schools where all students passed.
Number of failed candidates
A total of 6,00,660 students have failed in this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations under the nine general education boards, ,Madrasah and Technical Education Boards.

Of the total number of failed candidates, 3,24,716 are male students while 2,75,944 are female.
