Question leaks or cheating during exams won't return anymore: Milon
"Our primary challenge is employment after education. The education management will be redesigned with that in mind," he said.
The practice of cheating in exams or leaking question papers will not return, the newly appointed Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said today (18 February), citing effective measures taken during his previous tenure.
"Previously, strong steps were taken to stop cheating and question leaks. These instances will not return," Milon made the remarks in a press conference held at the Secretariat.
Outlining reform plans, the education minister said that the government will modernise the education system through curriculum reviews, enhanced digital literacy, stronger English proficiency, and the introduction of artificial intelligence, robotics and nanotechnology in line with Fourth Industrial Revolution demands.
"Our primary challenge is employment after education. The education management will be redesigned with that in mind," he said.
Addressing students, Milon said that the country can not move forward with an outdated education system.
"The world has become a global village. We must align our education system with international standards through digital platforms, technology-based skills and modern, knowledge-driven curriculum," he said.
Asked about allegations of irregularities and corruption in the education sector, the minister said authorities would look into complaints related to MPO enlistment and institutional approvals.
"We will not answer for what happened in the past. But we will investigate current allegations and inform the public accordingly," he said.
On low pay and benefits for private teachers, Milon said the government was aware of the issue. "A decision will be announced at the appropriate time," he added.
