National University VC attacked over demand for auto-pass
The assault took place around 12 noon today (21 May).

A group of students yesterday surrounded National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah at the university campus, and later a section of them attempted to assault him. He sustained minor injuries in the incident.
The assault took place around 12 noon today (21 May).
Md Mostafizur Rahman, acting director of the university's Public Relations Office, confirmed the incident.
"Around 12 noon, Vice-Chancellor Dr ASM Amanullah got down from his car at the gate of the administrative building on the university campus. At that time, examinees of the 2022 bachelor's (pass) course surrounded him demanding auto-pass. Among them, some miscreants posing as students, attacked the Vice-Chancellor with malicious intent, causing him minor injuries," he said.
Following the incident, the National University issued a press release. It stated that students of the 2022 bachelor's (pass) course had previously caused several disturbances on campus demanding auto-pass. However, due to the firm stance of the university against granting auto-pass, the exams for the bachelor's (pass) course were held, with 69% of students passing.
The press release also mentioned that considering the Covid-19 pandemic and other political instability, grace marks had already been awarded to students of that batch to help them pass. Additionally, they were given the opportunity for script re-evaluation, the results of which are due this month.
"However, instigated by various groups, a section of failed students from the batch launched a disgraceful attack on the Vice-Chancellor on Wednesday, once again demanding auto-pass," read the press release.
Md Mostafizur Rahman further stated that the university's clear position is that no batch of students will be granted auto-pass under any circumstances. Preparations are underway to identify the attackers and file a case with the local police station regarding the attack.
