Leaders of Islamic parties demand recruitment of religious teachers in primary schools
The Ulama Mashayekh Aimma Parishad as well as leaders of several Islamic parties have demanded the appointment of religious teachers in all primary schools across the country.
They made the call at a national seminar held at the Diploma Engineers Institution auditorium in Kakrail, Dhaka, today (16 September) on the theme 'Demand for mandatory recruitment of religious teachers in all primary schools of the country'.
At the seminar, Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, the ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, said due to the decline in the quality of education, primary schools across the country are losing students, and children are facing mental and moral deficiencies.
"Instead of addressing this, the government is appointing teachers for music. People want their children to learn Islam from an early age. Love for Islam is eternal," he said.
He further said, "The government should appoint religious teachers in schools. They are not doing that. We demand that, to build a skilled and morally sound generation, religious teachers must be appointed in all primary schools immediately; otherwise, the people of the country will be forced to take to the streets."
Ahmad Abdul Quader of Khelafat Majlis, Maulana Jalal Uddin of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, Maulana Hasan Jamil of Rabetatul Waizin, Khalilur Rahman Madani of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Ataullah Amin and Mufti Zubair Ahmad also spoke at the event.
The seminar was presided over by Allama Nurul Huda Faizil, president of the National Ulama Mashayekh Aimma Parishad. Papers were presented at the beginning of the event by Mufti Abdullah Masum and Maulana Yusuf Sultan.
