IUB holds virtual orientation for freshers

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised a virtual orientation for freshers' on Saturday for the students who have enrolled in the summer semester 2021.

Member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, Prof Dr Md Abu Taher was present as the chief guest. He encouraged the students to use their time effectively so that they can strengthen their acumen and contribute to the development of the country, reads a press release.  

The prof shared a few titles of life-changing books such as The Unfinished Memoirs, The Audacity of Hope, Dreams from My Father, The long Struggle for Freedom, From Two Economies to Two Nations: My Journey to Bangladesh.

He recommended the students to read these books and to understand and learn from them. He hoped that the new generation, especially the students, will play a vital role in making the Father of Nation's dream come into a reality.

Addressing the freshers, IUB Vice Chancellor Prof Tanweer Hasan said, "At our university, we want to turn you into a lifelong learner, we want to make sure that you have the right aptitude, training, and emotional ability to face the new world specifically unleashed by technology."

Highlighting the special features of IUB, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan requested everyone to make the best use of the facilities, make judicious use of the freedom and independence that IUB provides.  

Dr Samiul Parvez Ahmed, interim dean of School of Business & Entrepreneurship; Prof Dr Taiabur Rahman, dean of School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences; Prof JMA Hannan, dean of School of Pharmacy and Public Health (SPPH); Prof Dr Shah M Faruque, dean of School of Environment & Life Sciences and Dr. Habib Bin Muzaffar, dean (acting) of School of Engineering, Technology and Sciences also shared their thoughts and specific features of their respective Schools with the freshers.

The freshers, their parents, guardians, members of the faculty and administration of IUB, and a large number of audience joined the event that was broadcasted live through IUB facebook page & youtube channel.
