Alems must step forward to fulfil state's responsibilities: Religious adviser
To increase public engagement, alems must be active and the relationship between the public and the ulama-mashayekh must be maintained, he said
Religious Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain said alems must step forward to fulfil the responsibilities of the state.
"As long as alems remain absent from state affairs, peace and prosperity cannot come to the country," he said while addressing the closing session of the annual mahfil and dastarbandi conference at Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Uloom Muinul Islam Hathazari Madrasah in Chattogram this afternoon (21 November).
To increase public engagement, alems must be active and the relationship between the public and the ulama-mashayekh must be maintained, he said.
He urged the ulama to come forward to change the existing state structure.
Highlighting the importance of self-purification, Khalid said, "Each of us has faults. We do not see our own faults; we search for the faults of others. If I respect someone, I will receive respect in return. And if I humiliate someone, Allah will humiliate me."
The adviser said the company of the ulama brings blessings and enlightens life, enabling people to acquire noble qualities.
The madrasah's director general presided over the event, which was attended by Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Muhibullah Babunagari and other officials from the madrasah.
