DU forms committee for deeper investigation into violence during July uprising

Dhaka University has formed an investigation committee to further probe the illegal and violent incidents that took place on campus during the mass uprising from 15 July to 5 August last year.
The decision was made during a syndicate meeting of the university yesterday (17 March), Du said in a statement today (18 March).
The newly formed committee will be led by syndicate member Professor Tajmeri SA Islam.
The new committee will re-examine the involvement of 128 individuals previously identified by an investigation committee. Additionally, the committee will send letters to university halls, departments, and institutes requesting further information on those involved in the incidents.
After verifying the received information, the investigation committee is expected to release a comprehensive report soon, which will serve as the basis for taking final action against those found guilty, the statement reads.
The university administration has clarified that the list of 128 individuals is not final, urging everyone to avoid misinformation regarding the matter.
Yesterday, DU temporarily expelled 128 students over alleged involvement in attacks on protesters between 15 July and 5 August last year during the mass uprising.
Earlier, DU authorities formed an investigation committee, headed by Professor Tajmeri SA Islam, to identify the individuals who attacked protesters during the mass uprising.
