Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Vikram Kumar Doraiswami has said the media of Bangladesh is vibrant, free, colourful, and very vocal.

The Indian envoy stated this while opening the renovated media centre at the National Press Club in the capital on Monday.

He said that India is proud to have assisted in the renovation of the media centre.

Vikram Kumar Doraiswami said this initiative will play a helpful role in the work of media personnel to present Bangladesh to the world and to inform the people of Bangladesh about world news.

Saying the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence will be celebrated by Bangladesh as well as India, he stated that relations between the two countries were established in 1971.

"Bangladesh is an important partner of India in various fields," he said, adding, "The relationship that started in 1971 still exists and the relations between the two countries will be better in the future."

National Press Club President Farida Yasmin and General Secretary Elias Khan, among others, were present on the occasion.

Farida Yasmin said, "India had earlier helped us renovate the media centre. Communication between the media of the two countries is very important."

"We need to further enhance connectivity with the media of our two countries. The renovation this time will further increase our communication with the Indian media," she added.

The media centre of the National Press Club was recently renovated and modernised with the help of the Indian High Commission.

At present there are 34 computers with internet facilities in the media centre.
