Dhaka North asks establishment owners to disconnect sewerage lines from govt waterways
As per government regulation, connecting personal or commercial sewerage lines with any government drains or waterways is forbidden

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has instructed all establishment owners in its territory to disconnect their sewerage lines from the city corporation's stormwater drains, canals, lakes, and any other waterways by 31 March this year.
According to a media statement issued by DNCC on Sunday, it also requested residents not to connect any of their sewerage points with these drains or waterways, said.
As per government regulation, connecting personal or commercial sewerage lines with any government drains or waterways is forbidden.
All establishment owners in the city are meant to set up septic tanks or soakwells within their premises for a proper sewerage management system; however, many illegally connect their private sewerage lines with government waterways, the press statement read.
The DNCC also warned that doing so is a punishable offence as per the Local Government (City Corporation) Law 2009.
The DNCC will take legal action against any city dwellers that do not disconnect their sewerage lines from the city corporation drainage or water reservoirs by the 31 March deadline, the media statement read.
