The law and order situation in the capital has improved a lot due to the vigilant activities of the DMP, says the commissioner

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken all possible security measures to ensure safe and festive celebration of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali said today (24 March).

"We have made all kinds of security preparations so that the city dwellers can celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr in a festive and safe environment. In addition, a sense of security awareness must also be created at the individual or institutional level," said the DMP commissioner in a coordination meeting held at the conference room of the DMP Headquarters. 

The DMP chief, who presided over the meeting, said overall law and order situation of Dhaka Metropolitan City was reviewed during the meeting.

The meeting also discussed the measures regarding ensuring the safe and smooth travel of passengers, holding Eid congregations smoothly, and traffic management.

Sazzat also said the law and order situation in the capital has improved a lot due to the vigilant activities of the DMP. 

"Incidents like robbery and extortion have reduced to a great extent due to police activities. We have to move forward with everyone's cooperation," he added.

Representatives of various intelligence agencies, representatives of various specialized units of the police, Department of Shipping, Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association, Bangladesh Road Transport Federation, Bangladesh Truck-Covered Van Owners Association, Bangladesh Truck Drivers' Workers Federation, Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners Association, Launch Workers' Association, BKMEA, BGMEA, GMP, BIWTA, Department of Roads and Highways, Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka North City Corporation, Fire Service and Civil Defense, Bus Owners Association, Launch Owners Association, Bangladesh Inland Waterway Transport Organisation and representatives of various government and private service providers were present in the coordination meeting.

Senior police officers of the DMP were also present at the meeting.
