The human chain was presided over by University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) Employees Union President Manik Mia, while it was addressed by Anwar Hossain, president of Bangladesh Labour Federation, USTC Employee Union General Secretary Md Solaiman, among others.

"The authorities fired a total of 34 employees of Bangabandhu Memorial Hospital without caring any rules and regulations," Manik Mia told The Business Standard.

Though we protested the matter several times, we are yet to receive any satisfactory reply from them, he added.
