“There is no alternative to development in the Chattogram Hill Tracts. The government is working to ensure quality education and livelihood development in the region,” he said
Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma today (24 October) said the government will digitalise 100 educational institutions in the hill region by November this year.
"Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has instructed me to ensure digital activities are launched in 100 schools by this November," he said while addressing as chief guest of the Kathin Chibor Dan‑2025 ceremony at Shakyamuni Buddhist Monastery in Mirpur, Dhaka.
Supradip Chakma said that multimedia classrooms have already been introduced in most institutions and expressed confidence that the digitalisation programme would be completed on schedule.
"There is no alternative to development in the Chattogram Hill Tracts. The government is working to ensure quality education and livelihood development in the region," he added.
Regarding the current education status of CHT, the adviser said, "Quality education is essential for sustainable development in the CHT. Our children are already doing well, and with opportunities they will do even better."
Highlighting livelihood development as the second key agenda, the adviser stressed that improving the living standards of local communities was indispensable.
He noted that no effective schemes had yet been adopted in the CHT and directed officials to take up realistic, livelihood‑based projects.
He said proper initiatives to improve socio‑economic conditions would help stimulate the local economy and create employment opportunities.
The adviser added that 40% of the total allocation would be spent on livelihood development, with emphasis on proper use of project funds. Of the Tk530 crore allocated for the CHT, he said, distribution among relevant stakeholders had already been completed.
