Dhaka's train communication with northern region resumes after 14 hours
The train operations resumed around 4am today

Train communication between Dhaka and the northern region of the country resumed after 14 hours of disruption due to the derailment of four coaches of the Dhaka-bound Chilahati Express near Salna in Gazipur.
The train operations resumed around 4am today (14 April), confirmed Abul Khair Chowdhury, station master of Joydebpur Railway Junction.
The derailment occurred around 2:30pm yesterday (13 April) when three coaches of the Chilahati Express went off the track on the Dhaka-Tangail rail route near the Salna area of Gazipur city, causing a complete halt of train services to and from the northern districts.
Md Nadiruzzaman, in-charge of Joydebpur Railway Outpost, stated that four coaches of the Chilahati Express were derailed, not three as initially reported. A relief train was dispatched from Dhaka in the afternoon, and rescue operations commenced promptly.
The coaches were recovered and the tracks were repaired by 4:00am today, he added. Shortly afterward, the Drutojan Express passed through the location at 4:20am, confirming the restoration of train services.
