Dhaka-Sylhet highway to remain closed for 4 days

Traffic on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway will remain suspended for four days for repairs to Sherpur and Kagajpur bridges on the highway.

Executive Engineer of Sylhet Roads and Highways Department Ritesh Barua confirmed the matter on Sunday and said that the repairs would start at 6 am on July 3 and end at 6 am on July 7.

The Sylhet RHD has requested the use of Sherpur-Moulvibazar-Rajnagar-Fenchuganj-Sylhet road as an alternative route for all types of vehicles due to the closure of the bridges.

Ritesh said, "Repair works will be done on the damaged deck slab of Kagazpur Bridge on the 197th kilometre and Sherpur Bridge on the 192nd kilometre of the Sylhet-Dhaka Highway."

"Traffic will remain suspended on the bridges during the repair works and all drivers operating vehicles on the route are requested to use the alternative route for the time being," he added.
