Dhaka records season's lowest temperature at 12.5°C; cold wave grips 9 districts
In its regular bulletin, the Met Office said, “Moderate to thick fog may occur at many places over the country during midnight to morning and may persist in some areas till noon.”
Dhaka recorded the season's lowest temperature of 12.5 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning amid shivering cold and dense fog, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The weather office said Dhaka and its surrounding areas may remain covered by moderate to dense fog until noon, reducing visibility and affecting early morning movement in some areas.
In its regular bulletin, the Met Office said, "Moderate to thick fog may occur at many places over the country during midnight to morning and may persist in some areas till noon."
The bulletin warned that thick fog could disrupt air navigation, inland river transport and road communication.
A mild cold wave is currently sweeping over Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Sirajganj, Nilphamari, Kurigram, Jashore, Chuadanga and Kushtia districts and may continue, it said.
Weather across the country is expected to remain generally dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies. Both night and day temperatures may remain nearly unchanged nationwide.
The lowest temperature in the country was recorded at 9.0 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, Ishwardi in Pabna and Badalgachhi of Naogaon district, the bulletin added.
