Dhaka North suspends executive engineer over alleged negligence in duty
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has temporarily suspended an executive engineer over allegations of negligence, misconduct and inefficiency in supervising road construction and renovation works in Mohammadpur.
Md Mizanur Rahman, acting executive engineer of Region-5 under the DNCC, was suspended through an office order signed by the city corporation's Secretary Muhammad Asaduzzaman this afternoon (26 February).
According to the order, irregularities were observed during inspections of ongoing road construction and renovation works in the Mohammadpur area under Region-5.
In line with Rule 49 (a), (b) and (d) of the DNCC Employees Service Rules, 2019, administrative action was taken against the responsible engineer on charges of negligence in duty, misconduct and inefficiency.
The move follows an inspection conducted earlier on 25 February by Education State Minister Bobby Hajjaj in the Mohammadpur area.
During the visit, cracks, subsidence and other defects were observed at multiple project sites.
The state minister and local residents expressed dissatisfaction over the quality of the work during the inspection.
