Dhaka medical students block BMDC gate for over 6hrs demanding supplementary exam
From 11:00am to 5:45pm today (5 March), they prevented anyone from entering or leaving the BMDC building

Students of Dhaka Medical College's 2018-2019 batch have staged a demonstration blocking the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) gate, demanding a supplementary examination.
From 11:00am to 5:45pm today (5 March), they prevented anyone from entering or leaving the BMDC building.
Before iftar, police arrived and evacuated everyone from the premises.
According to the protesting students, as per medical regulations, each batch is supposed to get two chances to take supplementary exams. However, for the 2018-2019 batch, only the regular exam was held, and no supplementary exam was conducted. If the exam is not held, they will fall six months behind the next batch.
Moshiur Hossain, a medical student, told The Business Standard that they are demanding their rightful opportunity.
"The authorities had announced the supplementary exam schedule twice before, but later withdrew it. Our exam was supposed to be held in November 2023, but it still hasn't taken place.
"If it is further delayed, we will lag behind the next batch. We want our exam schedule," he said.
Meanwhile, Liaquat Hossain, acting registrar of BMDC, said, "The students have come to the wrong place. The responsibility for exam-related matters falls under the dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Dhaka University, not BMDC.
"Our role begins only after doctors pass their professional exams and come to us for license. We couldn't make them understand this. They assumed that blocking BMDC would expedite their examination," he added.
