Dhaka admin opens emergency control room after 5.7-magnitude earthquake

The Dhaka district administration has opened an emergency control room to coordinate information and communication related to casualties and damage following the 5.7-magnitude earthquake that jolted Bangladesh this morning (21 November).

The earthquake, which struck at 10:38am, has left at least six people dead and several others injured. Several buildings across Dhaka and other districts have also been damaged.
The release stated that the control room has been established at the deputy commissioner's office on an urgent basis to monitor the post-quake situation, assess damage, and coordinate necessary rescue operations.
The district administration urged the public to contact the control room (01700-716678, 02-41051065) for any quake-related information or emergency assistance.
The administration is closely monitoring the situation and has already taken necessary steps to support the affected individuals and areas, the release added.
