Measles: Death toll rises to 805 as 2 more children die in 24hrs
The number of suspected measles deaths has risen to 710, while laboratory-confirmed deaths now stand at 95.
Two more children died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8am today (23 July), bringing Bangladesh's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 805.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the number of suspected measles deaths has risen to 710, while laboratory-confirmed deaths now stand at 95.
During the same period, 848 new suspected measles cases were reported nationwide, taking the cumulative number of suspected infections to 121,200.
Meanwhile, 166 new laboratory-confirmed cases were recorded, raising the total number of confirmed measles infections to 15,007.
DGHS data show that since 15 March, a total of 103,863 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country. Of them, 100,188 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
