The deputy commissioners (DCs) have proposed increasing the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) presence at the borders as part of efforts to improve law and order and strengthen border security, said Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today (18 February).

After the session on the Home Affairs and Agriculture Ministries on the third day of the ongoing DC Conference at Osmani Memorial Hall in the capital, the home adviser shared this information with the media.

He mentioned that the law and order situation is generally satisfactory, with room for further improvement, adding that the situation is gradually improving.

He said that the DCs have also proposed increasing the presence of the Navy Police, and recommended boosting the personnel of the Industrial Police.

"To improve law and order, the Operation Devil Hunt is being conducted, and it will continue as long as Devil remains in operation," he added.

"The main focus of our discussions was to eliminate corruption from the country. If we can't root out corruption, the country's progress will be hindered," he said.

Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, who is also the agriculture adviser, said discussions were held with the DCs on how to further improve the agricultural sector.
