'Viral Alvi' among 3 sent to jail over armed robbery attempt in Mohammadpur
None of the accused had legal representation in court during the hearing

Three individuals, including Mosharaf Hossain alias 'Viral Alvi', have been sent to jail after being arrested with locally-made weapons while allegedly preparing for a robbery in the 40 Feet area in the capital's Mohammadpur.
Additionally, a minor named Md Akash Hawlader has been sent to a juvenile correction centre.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Israt Jennifer Zerin passed the order today (5 July) after police presented the four before the court, seeking remand for Alvi and the other two adult suspects, while requesting juvenile detention for the minor.
The other two accused sent to jail are Md Hridoy (31) and Md Ilyas Haji (20), confirmed Sub-Inspector Mizanur Rahman of the court's prosecution wing.
None of the accused had legal representation in court during the hearing, the SI said.
Earlier, in the early hours yesterday (4 July), a team from RAB-2 conducted an operation in Mohammadpur based on a tip-off and arrested the four alleged members of a robbery gang.
According to RAB, the group had gathered in the 40 Feet area with plans to commit a robbery. Sensing the presence of law enforcement, the suspects attempted to flee.
Four were caught, while four to five others managed to escape, RAB said.
During preliminary interrogation, the detainees admitted to being part of a long-running gang engaged in robbery, mugging, theft, and extortion across various areas of Dhaka, particularly in Mohammadpur.
They would use weapons to intimidate pedestrians and snatch mobile phones, cash, and other valuables, RAB added.
