Two more arrested over BAF Shaheen College student murder in Chattogram
Arrests made in Khagrachhari and Bagerhat drives
Two more accused have been arrested over the killing of a BAF Shaheen College student in Chattogram, who was thrown from the eighth floor of a building.
According to a RAB-7 press release today (19 April), the arrests were made in joint drives yesterday (18 April) and today.
Members of RAB-7 Chattogram and RAB-6 Khulna conducted separate operations in Khagrachhari and Bagerhat, the release said.
The arrested are Rana, also known as Michael Rana, and Md Ilias, both accused in the case.
The victim, Ashfaq Kabir Sajid, 17, was a Class XI student of BAF Shaheen College in Chattogram. He hailed from Chakaria upazila in Cox's Bazar and lived in a rented house on DC Road in the city for his studies.
According to the case details, Sajid went out on the afternoon of 12 April to meet his friend Fardin Hasan. Near the Mousumi Residential area on Bakalia Access Road, several miscreants attempted to abduct him at gunpoint.
He ran into an under-construction building for shelter. The attackers later entered the building with the help of a security guard, found him, beat him and threw him into an empty lift shaft from the eighth floor.
He was taken to hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.
The victim's father filed a case with Chakbazar Police Station following the incident.
RAB said Rana was arrested from Manikchhari in Khagrachhari last night, while Ilias was arrested from Fakirhat in Bagerhat this morning.
The arrested have been handed over to the concerned police station for legal action.
Earlier, four people were arrested in the case, including alleged main planner Aiman, Miskatul, and security guards Enamul Haque and Enayet Ullah, police said.
