Robbers held additional DIG's parents hostage at knifepoint and looted Tk2 lakh and 10 bhoris of gold

A robbery took place early today (31 May) at the ancestral home of Additional Deputy Inspector General of Railway Police Abida Sultana in Thengarband village under Madhyapara union of Kaliakair upazila in Gazipur.
According to police and local sources, a group of 10–12 masked individuals entered the three-storey house between 3am and 4:30am by cutting through a window grill.
They tied up Abida Sultana's father, Najmul Alam, and held him and his wife hostage at knifepoint while they looted valuables.
Najmul and his wife are the only residents of the house.
The robbers reportedly ransacked each floor of the residence before fleeing with cash, gold ornaments, and other belongings.
Victims said the intruders were armed with locally made sharp weapons.
Najmul Alam told reporters, "Around 3am, they cut the grill and broke open the doors. They tied us up and held us at knifepoint. The robbers took around 10 bhoris of gold and Tk2 lakh from the house."
After the incident, the couple called out for help, prompting locals to gather.
Police from Kaliakair Police Station arrived shortly afterwards.
Confirming the incident, Riyad Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Kaliakair Police Station, said, "A robbery has occurred at a house. We visited the location as soon as we received the information. The matter is under investigation and legal procedures are underway."
Superintendent of Police for Gazipur Chowdhury Jabed Sadeque said the incident is being treated seriously.
"We have heard that some suspicious individuals visited the house recently, claiming to be from a government agency. We are investigating all aspects of the case and will take necessary action," he said.
According to sources, the DIG is currently on officer on special duty (OSD) status.
Local sources also noted that a few days before the robbery, a group identifying themselves as members of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had visited the house, raising suspicions about their true identity.
