The accused in the incident has been detained, says police.
Police recovered the throat-slit body of an elderly man in Cox's Bazar's Ramu today (13 April).
The deceased was Kalua Barua, 65, according to Ramu Police Station Officer-in-Charge Monirul Islam Bhuiyan.
"The body of the deceased has been sent to the morgue of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy," Monirul said.
The accused in the incident, Tambu Barua, has been detained, the OC added.
Quoting the accused's initial confession, the OC said there had been a longstanding land dispute between Kalua and Tambu.
Police further said that this morning, Tambu allegedly lured Kalua into drinking alcohol before slitting his throat with a sharp knife, killing him on the spot.
Police later recovered evidence from the scene following the arrest, the OC said.
Legal proceedings are underway, Monirul added.
