Three-year-old abducted from Dhaka rescued as RAB nabs four suspects
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has rescued a three-year-old child abducted from Dhaka and arrested four people in connection with the abduction.
RAB Wing Commander MZM Intekhab Chowdhury, director of RAB's Legal and Media Wing, disclosed the details at a press briefing held at the RAB Media Centre in Karwan Bazar this afternoon (30 January).
He said the prime accused in the abduction, Md Chan Mia, a rickshaw puller, abducted the child from outside the gate of Mugda Medical College & Hospital in the capital on 28 January.
According to the RAB official, the incident occurred when the child's mother briefly went to buy water to quench the child's thirst. Taking advantage of the moment, the auto-rickshaw driver Chan Mia fled with the child. After failing to locate the child despite extensive searching, the mother filed a case with Mugda Police Station.
Following the filing of the case, RAB conducted an operation using information technology, arrested the prime accused along with three accomplices, and rescued the child from Gaibandha, the RAB official said, adding that further legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
