TBS journalist assaulted by a group of teenagers in Mohammadpur
According to Saqlain, several witnesses were present at the scene during the assault.
A journalist of The Business Standard was physically assaulted by a group of teenagers in Dhaka's Mohammadpur area yesterday evening (13 May).
Saqlain Rizve, a staff correspondent at The Business Standard and Bangladesh correspondent for The Diplomat, said the incident took place around 7:30pm on Razia Sultana Road in Mohammadpur.
According to Saqlain, the incident began after a heated argument with a Pathao biker over a change after he returned from the office. He said the altercation between him and the biker remained verbal and did not turn physical.
"Suddenly, from nowhere, a group of five to six boys came and started beating me mercilessly," Saqlain said.
He said he sustained injuries to his face, head, neck, and areas near his backbone during the attack.
"The biker was also shocked by what happened," he added.
According to Saqlain, several witnesses were present at the scene during the assault.
Rasel Ahmed, sub-inspector of Mohammadpur Police Station, told TBS that he has visited the scene and is trying to identify the attackers.
