Singer Momtaz Begum has been arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) from Dhanmondi area in the capital.
This information was shared in a brief message sent by the DMP Media Wing on Monday (12 May).
Details about the arrest or the charges against her have yet to be disclosed.

Deputy commissioner of DB's media and public relations told BSS that they apprehended her around 11:30pm.
She was accused in multiple cases related to the 2024 July uprising, he added.
She will be produced in court tomorrow.
Momtaz is a former member of parliament of the Manikganj-2 constituency.
She also reserved a women's seat during 2009–2013.
Momtaz has recorded around 700 music albums in the country.
