Dhallywood actress Pori Moni expressed satisfaction over the quick arrest of the accused in the attempted rape and murder case that she had filed with Savar Police Station.

The Detective Branch of police talked to her for two hours at its Minto Road office Tuesday afternoon.

"I am hopeful of getting justice for what happened to me. The police action was like magic. They have arrested the accused," Pori Moni said at a briefing after coming out of the DB office.

"I will return to work. I want to leave with peace," she added.

Before the arrest on Monday, the prime accused of the case, businessmen Nasir U Mahmood, had rejected the allegations.

He said Pori Moni had gone to Dhaka Boat Club on Thursday night to take away foreign liquor bottles for free but the club authorities had refused her and then she filed the case bringing false accusations.

Talking to the media at the DB office on Tuesday, Pori Moni ruled out Nasir's claim.

She said she had rather been forced to drink by Nasir, Tuhin Siddique Omi and some others at the club.

The actress earlier complained about police's non-cooperation, but on Tuesday said she was satisfied with the police action.

Briefing reporters, DB Joint commissioner Harun-or-Rashid said the police were investigating the case with priority and were yet to identify four other unnamed accused.

Earlier, DB's Gulshan Division Deputy Commissioner Mashiur Rahman told The Business Standard that "It [talks with Pori Moni] is a regular process to learn the facts from the plaintiff of a case. Sometimes all the details aren't mentioned in the FIR, that is why we should talk to the victim and the plaintiff."

On Sunday, Pori Moni said that along with her friend Omi and personal makeup artist Jimi she had gone to the club. Omi introduced her to some people there who were drunk. At one point, one of them tried to force her to drink alcohol and rape her.

Meanwhile, the court asked the police to interrogate the three women, arrested in the Monday raid on Nasiruddin's residence at Uttara 1, in presence of women police and complete their interrogations within seven days. It also instructed law enforcers to finish questioning Nasir and Omi in 10 working days.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Dhaka asked the authorities concerned to submit a report on the case investigation by 8 July, said police inspector Mejbah Uddin Ahmed.

Following the raid, another case was filed under the narcotics control act against Nasir, Omi and three others. During their arrest, the detectives found foreign liquor and 1,000 pieces of Yaba tablets at Nasir's Uttara house.

In a general discussion on the proposed national budget for fiscal year 2021-22, Jatiya Party lawmaker Mujibul Haque Chunnu on Tuesday said that former president of Uttara Club Limited Nasir U Mahmud was a "good person".

"Yesterday [Monday], an honorable member of parliament demanded justice for actress Pori Moni. I know a person arrested over the incident. He was the three-time president of the Uttara Club. He is an activist of the Jatiya Party and a good man," Mujibul said.
