Prime suspect arrested over 'Boba Rafique' murder in Tejgaon

Police have arrested the prime suspect in the murder of Md Rafique, also known as 'Boba Rafique', from Karwan Bazar area on Friday night.
Md Saddam, 22, was arrested with a knife in his possession during a drive at around 11:30 pm on Friday, said Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP Md Talebur Rahman this afternoon.
He said Rafique, also known as Jibon, was standing in front of a restaurant near Karwan Bazar around 11:00 am on 24 April when Saddam attacked him with the knife over previous enmity.
Rafique sustained critical injuries and later died from excessive bleeding at a hospital.
Following the incident, Rafique's grandmother filed a murder case with Tejgaon Police Station on 25 April.
During the investigation, police reviewed CCTV footage from the scene and surrounding areas and identified Saddam as the attacker.
Based on information provided by the arrestee, police recovered the knife used in the killing from the Kamarpatti area of Karwan Bazar, wrapped in a towel.
Saddam is a known mugger in Karwan Bazar area with seven previous cases related to mugging, robbery, and drugs filed against him at Tejgaon and Hatirjheel police stations.
During preliminary interrogation, he confessed that the killing was triggered following a dispute over the distribution of mugged mondy.
Earlier on Friday morning, the Rapid Action Battalion arrested another accused Md Asif alias Ashik alias Ibrahim Khalil, 22 from Tejgaon and handed him over to Tejgaon Police Station.
