Police constable arrested with 10,000 yaba pills in Chattogram’s Lohagara

A police constable was arrested with 10,000 yaba tablets on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway on Wednesday morning.
The arrest took place around 6:30 am at Chunati Jangalya in Lohagara upazila, police said. The arrested, Monirul Islam, is a member of the Special Branch (City SB) and was posted in the Kotwali zone of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).
Lohagara police recovered the yaba tablets from his possession during a search of his motorcycle, which was also seized.
Officer-in-Charge Arifur Rahman of Lohagara Police Station told The Business Standard that the operation was carried out based on a tip-off. "Monirul was transporting the consignment of yaba from Cox's Bazar to Chattogram for sale," he said.
A case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act. Following the filing of the case, Monirul was produced before the court and sent to jail.
