OC Pradeep sent to jail after 15 days of remand
He is the second accused in the Sinha murder case
Former Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das was sent to jail on Tuesday after four phases of remand of 15 days in the Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan murder case.
After a one-day remand in the fourth phase, a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) team produced him in the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah on Tuesday afternoon. Later, Pradeep was sent to jail at around 4.30 pm.
RAB-15 Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Khairul Islam, who is also investigating the case, said, former Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradeep was remanded for 15 days in four phases.

"During the interrogation, he provided important information about the case. We are examining the information. Tuesday was the last day of the 1-day remand in the fourth round. After handing him over to the court on the last day, the court sent him to jail," he said.
OC Pradeep is the second accused in the Sinha murder case. He did not testify at court under section 164, added the RAB official.
According to court sources, on August 6 ─ the day they surrendered ─ the court granted remand of the seven accused, including OC Pradeep, for seven days each.
Later, the court granted remand against OC Pradeep for a total of 15 days including 4 days on 24 August, 3 days on 28 August and 1 day on 31 August.
Former army officer Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was killed in police firing at Shamlapur check post in Teknaf on the night of July 31.
The incident occurred when he was returning to Himchhari in Cox's Bazar by driving his car along the Marine Drive, after filming for a documentary on a hill in Marishbunia.
Sinha's elder sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a murder case at the Cox's Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on August 5 over the incident.
Nine people were accused in this case. The seven policemen accused in the case surrendered at court, and later they were suspended.
After Sinha's murder, RAB arrested three witnesses in the case filed by the police. The elite force also arrested three more APBn members on charges of involvement in the killing. A total of thirteen accused are in jail now.
The police filed two cases, one at Teknaf and the other at Ramu Police Stations over the same incident.
Later, another case was filed against unidentified accused at Teknaf police station on charges of abducting witnesses.
So far, five cases have been lodged over this incident, while RAB-15 is investigating four of the cases.
