A court today (17 February) placed former minister Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haque Inu, and journalist couple Shakil Ahmed and Farzana Rupa on different terms of remand in a case lodged over the murder of AnwarHossain Patwari in the city's Mirpur area during the student-led July-August mass uprising.

Of the four, Menon and Inu were placed on a three-day remand each, while Shakil and his wife Rupa were placed on a five-day remand each in the case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak passed the order as police produced the four before the court and pleaded to place them on a five-day remand each in the case.

Former information minister Hasanul Haque Inu was arrested on August 26, while Manon was arrested from the city's Gulshan area on August 22. Shakil Ahmed and Farzana Rupa were detained from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on August 21 as they were trying to flee the country.

Anwar Hossain Patwari was killed in the Mirpur-10 intersection area on August 5. His father Al Amin Patwari filed the case with the Mirpur Model Police Station in this connection.
