Man killed in Ctg’s Satkania over mosque dispute, four arrested

A man was killed in an attack allegedly linked to a dispute over a local mosque committee in Chattogram's Satkania upazila.
The deceased, Md Didarul Alam, 45, son of the late Ezahar Mia of the Fayezur Rahman Sawdagar residence in Deodighi, was attacked on Saturday night (7 June) in the Deodighi area of Ward No 4 under Aochia Union.
According to local police, Didarul was assaulted with locally made weapons and died on the spot.
Following the incident, a joint operation by the army and police on Sunday morning (8 June) resulted in the arrest of four suspects — all brothers from the same household.
The detainees are Md Sarwar Azam, 50, Md Saiful Azam, 41, Md Nazim Uddin, 34, and Md Nurul Islam Azim, 30, sons of the late Nurul Islam.
The body was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
Md Jahedul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Satkania Police Station, confirmed the arrests and said a murder case was filed on Sunday. The victim's younger brother lodged the case, naming 11 individuals in connection with the attack.
