Man held while 'trying' to set fire to parked bus in Azimpur
Transport workers and locals caught the 40-year-old at the scene and handed him over to police.
Police detained a 40-year-old man after transport workers and locals caught him while he was allegedly trying to set fire to a parked bus in the capital's Azimpur area early today (20 September).
The detainee was identified as Aminul Islam Shawon.
DMP's Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) Niaz Mehedi confirmed the matter, saying Shawon allegedly tried to set fire to a bus named VIP parked under the Azimpur Matanir overbridge at around 2:15am.

Niaz also said bus staff and locals noticed the incident, caught Shawon on the spot, and beat him.
A patrol team from Lalbagh Police Station later arrived at the scene and took Shawon into custody.
The DMP official also said Shawon sustained injuries to his head and other parts of his body after being beaten by an agitated crowd.
He was later sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment. Legal action against Shawon is in process, Niaz said.
