Man claiming to be police informant killed in Kamrangirchar; 1 detained
The detainee, identified as Md Arman, 22, was arrested last night (2 December) from the Chamta area of Naria upazila in Shariatpur
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained a youth in connection with the murder of Shahadat Islam Rocky, a grocery shop worker who was stabbed to death in Kamrangirchar on Monday (1 December).
The detainee, identified as Md Arman, 22, was arrested last night (2 December) from the Chamta area of Naria upazila in Shariatpur with assistance from local police, confirmed RAB-10 Assistant Director (Media) Tapas Karmakar.
RAB sources said Arman has four previous cases against him, including charges related to robbery and dacoity.
"Arman has been handed over to Kamrangirchar Police Station," the RAB official added.
According to RAB, deceased Rocky, 25, was involved with several local groups and was addicted to drugs. He reportedly introduced himself as a police informant, using the claim to intimidate his rivals. These factors are believed to have contributed to the attack that led to his death.
Rocky was attacked by unidentified assailants around 3:45am on Monday (1 December) in the East Islamnagar area of Kamrangirchar. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Police registered a murder case the following day based on a complaint filed by the victim's father.
