Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam BPM today asked police personnel to make the best efforts to check crimes.

"We have to work with honesty and stay on the path of justice. We have to make 100% efforts to stop extortion, robbery and murder," he said in a monthly crime review meeting at Bangladesh Police Auditorium, Rajarbagh here.

The police chief asked the police personnel to tackle all sorts of crimes, including extortion and drug abuse by performing duties with the utmost professionalism.

Presiding over the meeting, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sajjat Ali, said a zero tolerance policy should be followed regarding robbers and extortionists.

"Robbers and extortionists should be arrested. DMP police stations should play a more active role in this regard."

He further said everyone should perform their professional duties with a sense of responsibility and enthusiasm.

"If everyone works together, people trust in the police will return," he said.

At the monthly crime meeting, the DMP commissioner awarded officers of various ranks of the DMP in various categories in recognition of their good work in maintaining the law and order and public safety in December.
