The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has visited the murder scene of slain journalist Burhan Uddin Muzakkir, who was killed during a shootout between two factions of Awami League on Friday in Companiganj, Noakhali.

An investigation team led by Mizanur Rahman Munshi, PBI superintendent of police, visited the area on Wednesday. The Investigating Officer of the case, Inspector Mostafizur Rahman, was present at the time.

The PBI investigation team first went to the crime scene at Chaprashirhat East Bazar and then to the house of the deceased. They spoke to family members of the victim, locals and police personnel who were working during the incident.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Companiganj Police Station Mir Zahidul Haque Rony said that all evidence – including Muzakkir's mobile phone, a video camera (without memory card), a wallet, an OTG cord, and CCTV footage of the market – were handed over to the PBI on Wednesday afternoon.

PBI Noakhali Superintendent of Police said, "We have inspected the scene and talked to the local people and will try to submit a report as soon as possible."

Muzakkir received bullet wounds on Friday while he was photographing and filming clashes between the supporters of Basurhat Municipality Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza and former Companiganj upazila chairman Mizanur Rahman Badal, both local Awami League leaders.

The Noakhali district correspondent of online news portal Barta Bazar was rushed to Noakhali General Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died at 10:45pm on Saturday.

Muzakkir's father Maulana Nawab Ali Master, a retired primary school teacher, filed the case on Tuesday.
