Gold bars worth Tk1.5 crore recovered from passenger's rice cooker at Ctg airport

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) on Saturday recovered three gold bars worth around Tk1.5 crore in an abandoned luggage at the Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram.
The luggage belonged to an Omani passenger who left the airport on Friday night.
CIID Additional Director General Bashir Ahmed said, "Illegal items were detected while scanning the unclaimed luggage. Three gold bars weighing 1.8kg were uncovered from a rice cooker inside the luggage."
Earlier on Friday morning, the CIID detained Mohammad Ali, a passenger of Air Arabia flight, who was found carrying gold weighing 1.8kg concealed in a rice cooker in a similar manner.
"The Omani passenger might have found out about the incident from that morning and left the airport, leaving his luggage behind," said CIID Assistant Director Abdul Matin.
