Garment worker stabbed to death in Chattogram, husband arrested
According to police, the murder was premeditated and stemmed from ongoing family disputes

Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of his wife in Madhyam Halishahar area under Bandar Police Station in Chattogram city.
The suspect, Md Sobuj Khandakar, was detained last night (5 April) from the Dhumpara area under the same police station, said police.
The deceased was identified as readymade garment worker Chandni Khatun, 22, originally from Khulna's Dacope Upazila and a worker at Evertobe Bangladesh Ltd factory in the Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) area.
According to police, the murder was premeditated and stemmed from ongoing family disputes.
She was killed around 5pm yesterday in the Bakar Ali Fakir Tek intersection area while returning home from work, police said.
Her husband Sobuj ambushed her and stabbed her multiple times, leading to her death, police added.
Family members claimed Chandni had long been subjected to abuse by her husband, who was reportedly addicted to drugs.
Unable to endure the abuse, she had recently taken shelter at her uncle's house, according to family members.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Bandar Zone) Mahmudul Hasan told The Business Standard, "After the murder in the afternoon, we rushed to the scene and soon identified the husband as the prime suspect. With the help of technology, we arrested Sobuj later that night."
In police interrogation, Sobuj reportedly confessed to the crime, stating that long-standing tensions and separation had led him to plan and carry out the murder.
"They were no longer living together," said Mahmudul. "Sabuj admitted he killed her in a planned manner. Interrogation is ongoing, and more details will be disclosed later."
Chandni's body has been sent for postmortem examination, and further legal action is underway, the police official further said.
