Fugitive accused in 9 cases arrested in Mohammadpur

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the police has arrested a fugitive accused in nine cases and facing multiple arrest warrants from the capital's Mohammadpur area.
The arrestee, Md Sohel, was held during a raid in the Krishi Market area of Mohammadpur around 4:30pm yesterday (16 May).
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Media and Public Relations Division Deputy Commissioner NM Nasir Uddin confirmed the matter today (17 May).
According to police, Sohel is facing trial in nine cases filed with different police stations, including Mohammadpur, Rupnagar, Darus Salam and Adabor, and had been absconding despite multiple arrest warrants issued against him.
Law enforcement officials described him as a long-time active drug dealer and mugger operating in Mohammadpur and surrounding areas.
