Four of a family detained with airgun, locally-made weapons in Faridpur's Nagarkanda

A team of joint forces, in an operation today (8 April), detained four members of the same family and seized an airgun and several locally made weapons from their house in Nagarkanda, Faridpur.
The firearm and weapons were seized during the drive, according to the officials of the Nagarkanda Police Station.
Members of the army and police conducted a three-hour-long operation this afternoon at the house of arrested Mahbubur Rahman Manzur in Jangurdi East Para of the municipality.
The arrestees include Mahbubur's wife Hamida Begum, his son district Chhatra League leader Jubayer Hossain Himel, and his daughter Naziba Akter.
The Nagarkanda Police Station stated that the joint forces conducted the operation based on a tipoff and preparations were underway to file a case against them under the Arms Act.
According to locals, arrested Jubayer had been involved in district Chhatra League politics. There were allegations that when the Awami League was in power, he had been using his political influence to dominate the area for a long time.
Meanwhile, news of his arrest brought local residents some relief as they reportedly distributed sweets in celebration.
