They were active members of an inter-district robbery gang involved in multiple criminal activities
Police have arrested four alleged members of an inter-district robbery gang along with two microbuses in Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar.
Chakaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Touhidul Anwar said the four were arrested from the area behind the Sub-Registrar's Office at Chakaria municipality today (8 November).
The arrestees are Md Selim, Abdullah Al Mamun alias Shahin alias Sajjad, Nasir Uddin, and Touhidul Islam.
The OC said police had received information that several miscreants were gathered with microbuses in the area.
"When police reached the spot, 6-7 suspects tried to flee. After a brief chase, four were apprehended, while the others managed to escape," he said.
OC Touhidul said the detainees were active members of an inter-district robbery gang involved in multiple criminal activities, including robbery and arms cases, in Cox's Bazar and other districts.
Legal action has been initiated against them under relevant laws, he added.
