Limbs of some of the children were severed from their bodies, he said, adding some other died because their intestines came out due to the explosion.

The Dhaka District Administration gave each of the families of the deceased Tk20,000 as financial aid.

The families got the aid when the dead bodies were handed over to them on Thursday afternoon, Executive Magistrate of Dhaka District Administration Md Mazharul Islam said.

"We will also provide the injured with Tk5,000 to Tk15,000, depending on their condition, for their treatment" Mazharul Islam added.

Earlier on Wednesday, the six children were killed on the spot and 15 others injured in a balloon gas cylinder blast at Mirpur's Rupnagar area.
