He was detained by locals at his rented house in the Bhadra’s Hozor Mor area, where they assaulted him before taking him to Chandrima Police Station in an injured state

Former police sub-inspector Mahbub Hasan, popularly known as DB Hasan, was beaten by a mob and handed over to the police in Rajshahi city last night (23 August).
He was detained by locals at his rented house in the Bhadra's Hozor Mor area, where they assaulted him before taking him to Chandrima Police Station in an injured state.
Police later admitted him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for treatment under custody.

Gaziur Rahman, spokesperson for Rajshahi Metropolitan Police and additional deputy commissioner, said Hasan has been shown arrested in an extortion case filed at Boalia Police Station.
"Since he is injured, he has been admitted to the hospital under police custody," he confirmed.
Police said Hasan is a former member of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB).
He is accused in multiple cases filed after 5 August last year, including one involving allegations that he extorted Tk5 lakh from a man in 2019 by threatening him with crossfire.
The case was filed on 22 August 2024 by businessman Masud Rana Sarkar from the Gorhanga area of the city.
Police also stated that Hasan faces several other cases related to extortion and harassment, where he allegedly demanded money by threatening to file lawsuits.
Hasan was dismissed from service last year in light of these allegations and had reportedly been in hiding since then.
