Ex-Ctg edu board secretary lands in Jail over son's result forgery
The order was issued today (17 June) by Chattogram Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mizanur Rahman

A Chattogram court has ordered Professor Narayan Chandra Nath, former secretary of the Chattogram education board, to be sent to jail in a case over the forgery of his son's exam results.
The order was issued today (17 June) by Chattogram Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mizanur Rahman, Chattogram Court Police Inspector Md Shaheen told The Business Standard.
The Inspector said Narayan surrendered to the court after the expiration of his four-week anticipatory bail granted by the High Court. "Following a hearing, the court rejected his bail plea and ordered that he be sent to jail."
"The accused was sent to jail as per the court's instructions after he surrendered in connection with the forgery case and his bail was denied," he added.
The case was filed on 21 January at Panchlaish Police Station against four individuals, including Professor Narayan Chandra Nath, for allegedly manipulating his son's HSC exam results to secure a GPA-5 through fraudulent means.
The other accused are Narayan's son Nakshatra Debnath, former senior system analyst of the Education Board Kibria Masud Khan, and former Board Chairman Professor Mustafa Kamrul Akhter.
The case was filed by the current Secretary of the education board, Professor AKM Shamsuddin Azad.
Narayan's son appeared in the 2023 HSC exams while Narayan was serving as the controller of examinations and secretary of the Chattogram education board. After the results were published, allegations of result manipulation surfaced. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) later launched an investigation.
On 9 July 2024, Narayan was transferred from the Education Board to serve as director of DSHE's Chattogram region.
A directive issued on 17 September 2023, by DSHE's Discipline Wing and signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Shatarupa Talukder confirmed that the allegations of forgery against Narayan were substantiated in the investigation.
The directive recommended punitive action under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, and the cancellation of Nakshatra's results.
Subsequently, on 23 September 2024, Narayan was made an officer on special duty (OSD).
