College student shot dead in Bagerhat by assailants posing as police

A 23-year-old college student was shot dead by unidentified assailants, reportedly posing as police, near his home in Bagerhat's Chitalmari upazila this afternoon (26 March).
The deceased, identified as Amir Hamza, the son of Ruhul Amin Munshi, was a first-year honours student at Khulna Government Sundarban Adarsha College and worked at Popular Diagnostic Centre.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Additional Superintendent of Police Md Shamim Hossain said police have recovered the victim's body. "The body has been sent to Bagerhat 250-Bed District Hospital for autopsy."
"Multiple teams, including members of the Criminal Investigation Department and Police Bureau of Investigation have begun working to identify the culprits," he added.
According to family members and police, around 4pm, Hamza was standing in his yard, talking with his father and uncle, when six men on three motorcycles wearing helmets entered the house, posing as police officers.
Alarmed by their appearance, Hamza tried to escape, running toward a nearby canal, where the assailants shot him in the head before fleeing the scene.
