Case filed over rape of second grader in Sirajganj

A case was filed on charges of raping a second-grader school girl in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj yesterday night (13 March).

The victim's father filed the case with Raiganj police accusing Mohammad Ali, 15, son of Abdul Alim of Nadua village in Pangasi union.

Quoting case statement, Raiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Asaduzzaman said the victim had gone to Abdul Alim's house in Nadua village on the morning of 9 March, to drop off her younger siblings at the child care centre.

"At that time, Mohammad Ali took the girl in his room and raped her. Afterward, when the child became ill, he poured water over her head, provided some relief, and sent her back home. Later that afternoon, when her condition worsened, the family was notified about the incident.

"The following day, the child was taken to a private hospital in Sirajganj town, where she received medical supervision as her father was not at home," the OC added.

However, her health continued to deteriorate, leading to her admission to Sirajganj Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College Hospital yesterday. The child is now out of danger and undergoing tests to confirm the rape, said on duty doctor Raihan Khandaker.

"Efforts to apprehend the perpetrator, Mohammad Ali, are ongoing," OC Asaduzzaman said.
