A case has been filed against Awami League leader Quader Mirza with Noakhali court in connection with death of Sramik League activist during clashes between two factions of ruling party.

Md Emdad Hossain, younger brother of deceased Sramik League activist Ala Uddin, filed the case with chief judicial magistrate against Md Abdul Quader Mirza, his brother Shahadat Hossain, son Mirza Mashrur Quader Tasik.

Advocate Harunur Rashid Hawlader, lawyer of the plaintiff, said that the case was filed accusing 164 people and unidentified 50-60 people with the cognisance court no-4.

The hearing of the case is likely to be held at the court of Judge S M Mosle Uddin Mizan.

Meanwhile, additional security measures have been taken to avoid any untoward situation.

Earlier on Thursday night, when Emdad Hossain went to the Companiganj Police Station for lodging a complaint naming 164 people and accusing 30-40 others, police did not record the complaint saying that it would have to be corrected.

The dispute between Mizanur Rahman Badal, the organising secretary of Companiganj Upazila Awami League, and the mayor of Basurhat Municipality Abdul Quader Mirza, is going on for the last one and a half months.

This created an unstable environment in the upazila. There have been more than a dozen bloody clashes and shootings between supporters of the two sides. Ala Uddin, a CNG driver and Labor League activist, was shot dead on Tuesday during a clash.

More than 50 people were injured in the clash.

Besides, Journalist Burhan Uddin Muzakkir was shot dead on 19 February in a clash between the two sides.
