BNP leader hacked to death in Bagerhat
Prime suspect is Md Israil Molla, reportedly a BNP activist and organisational secretary of the National Human Rights and Health Care Society’s Bagerhat district unit

A journalist was hacked to death in the Harikhali area of Bagerhat this evening (3 October).
The deceased, Hayat Uddin, 42, recently contested for the post of organising secretary of Bagerhat Municipality BNP but was defeated.
He also worked as a district reporter for the Daily Bhorer Chetona.
Bagerhat Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmud-ul-Hasan confirmed the incident, saying, "We have received the news of his death. Police have been dispatched to his residence, and an investigation into the motive is underway."
According to locals, Hayat Uddin was sitting at a tea stall near Harikhali Government Primary School intersection around 6:30pm when several assailants attacked him with sharp weapons. He was critically injured and later declared dead at Khulna Medical College Hospital.
Police later said the prime suspect is Md Israil Molla, a resident of Harikhali and son of Md Abdus Salam Molla.

"Initially, we suspect that Md Israil Molla hacked him to death and beat him with a hammer. We are trying to arrest him. Investigation is ongoing to determine whether others were involved," said Md Shamim Hasan, additional superintendent of police (ASP), Bagerhat Sadar Circle.
"We suspect the two had a dispute over drugs," he added.
He said the body of the deceased has been kept at Khulna Medical College Hospital.
