BGB destroys illegal narcotics worth Tk74.31 crore in Kushtia

The 47th Battalion of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has destroyed illegal narcotics worth over Tk74.31 crore, seized at various times during operations in Kushtia.
The narcotics, seized between 1 February 2024 and 31 January 2025, were destroyed at BGB's Kushtia Sector Headquarters training ground this morning (17 February) in Mirpur of the district.
The narcotics destruction programme was inaugurated by Colonel Md Maruful Abedin, commander of the Sector Headquarters of the BGB Kushtia Battalion.
"We have carried out this activity as part of the government's zero-tolerance policy against drugs. Along with our campaign against drugs, these programmes will continue. We are determined to keep the country drug-free at any cost." He sought everyone's cooperation in this regard," he said.
The drugs include 11,000 bottles of Phensedyl, 9,368 bottles of foreign liquor, 127.650kg of Indian marijuana, 8.657kg of heroin, 7,247 pieces of yaba tablets, 1,88,097 pieces of sildenafil citrate tablets, 930 pieces of Tapentadol tablets, 124,577 pieces of leaf bidis, 4kg of crystal meth (ice), 56 bottles of LSD, 980 grams of opium and 9 bottles of snake venom.
